A Whittier man and woman arrested while trying to walk across the southern border into Mexico with the body of a toddler inside a duffel bag pleaded not guilty to murder charges Friday in a San Diego courthouse, authorities said.
Prosecutors filed one count of murder each against John Lewis Harley, 39, and Mercy Mary Becerra, 43, San Diego County District Attorney's Office spokeswoman Tanya Sierra said.
